Jakub Skiba was born on May 16 1961 in the city of Cracow. He studied history at the Catholic University of Lublin. He also graduated from the National School of Public Administration. Between 1993 and 1997 he worked in the Supreme Audit Office (NIK), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as First Secretary of the Permanent Office of the Republic of Poland at the UN. Between 1997 and 1999 he served as Director of the Office of the Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, and between 1999 and 2001 he was General Director of Statistics Poland (GUS). Since 2005 he was General Director at the Interior Ministry and at the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. In 2007 he was nominated by Polish President Lech Kaczyński to the Board of the National Bank of Poland. Jakub Skiba was also member of the KSAP Council and the Council for Refugees. In 2006 he obtained the title of Doctor of Economics at the Warsaw School of Economics. From November 2015 to October 2017 he served as Secretary of State in the Interior Ministry. On October 20 2017 he was nominated to serve as Acting President of the Polish Security Printing Works. He became President in December 2017, and resigned from this post on February 8 2018. |
